Originally incorporated in 1969, this northern Hamilton County city has enjoyed enormous growth in residents and businesses since the opening of Corridor J, a four-lane, controlled-access highway that reduced the drive time from Soddy-Daisy to downtown Chattanooga to 15 minutes.
The Soddy-Daisy Industrial Park on the south end of the city has also stimulated business growth in the area. Major employers include Tennessee Trailers, Inc., Beasley Distributing, and Gurney Apparel.
Still, this community of 25,000 residents maintains the quiet charm of a rural residential area with a number of beautiful waterfront and mountain view properties.
Schools include three elementary schools, Soddy-Daisy Middle School, and Soddy-Daisy High, one of the largest in the county and among the top in academic performance.
